Anyone interested in becoming a qualified arbiter should consider attending the course in Preston over the weekend 11th to 13th September. To achieve the FA (FIDE arbiter) title, you must gain arbiters norms which include (as an essential) attending an arbiters training course and passing the open book exam included as part of the course. Other norms can then be gained by arbiting at FIDE rated events. There are very few of the training courses in Britain, so if you are interested in arbiting, and would like to work towards gaining the FA title, it would be worth trying to get this essential part of the qualifying procedure completed given the current opportunity. The course fees are £230 including accommodation or £90 just for the course C(if registered before 30th June) for anyone interested. Full details are given in the Press release.
