Welsh Junior Qualifier 5 17th January 2015

Cathedral School, Cardiff, hosted the fifth Welsh qualifier for the Welsh Junior Championships on Saturday 17 January. This was a six-round event, with players scoring four or more qualifying for the 'championship' section of the finals.

 

  •  In the under 12s, Duncan MacDonald came first with a score of 6/6, Chirag Guha came second with 5/6 and Maz Lazarus and Hiya Ray came joint third with 4/6.
  • In the under 11s, Blake Fisher won with a score of 5/6, and joint second was shared between Jack Warner and David McIntosh on 4.5/6. Qualifying for the championships with a score of 4/6 were Madeleine Smith, Ethan Chung, Nathan Bridel and Cian Grattidge.
  • The joint winners of the under 10s were Nye Bradfield and Anish Choudry with 5/6. Third place was shared between to Arthur Newington-Bridges and Toby Davies on 4.5/6. Qualifying for the championships with a score of 4/6 were Christopher Tang, Finlay Robertson, Callum Penny and Taliesin Yearwood-Williams.
  • Winner of the under 9s was Henry Nicholls with 5/6. Akshara Nagaruru and Gabriel Waite shared second place with 4.5/6. Qualifying for the championships with a score of 4/6 was Steffan Griffiths.
  • The three joint winners of the under 8s were Jonathan Davies, Jacob Wynn and Milo Davies. Rajan Randeva and Thomas Watson also qualified for the championships with scores of 4/6.

Henry Nicholls won the under 9s, with Akshara Nagaruru and Gabriel Waite sharing second place

 

Nye Bradfield and Anish Choudry were the joint winners of the under 10s,
