Chess at the Hay Literary Festival

The WCU, in conjunction with Chess in School and Communities (CSC) and The Stephens and George Charitable Trust, took over The Scribblers' Tent on the two schools' days of the Festival - Thursday 22 and Friday 23 May. Children from all over England and Wales took part in demonstrations and games led by IM Malcolm Pein and the WCU's Development Director, Sarah Kett. The BBC interviewed some of the children who had taken part in one of the chess sessions and they agreed that chess was just as good as PlayStation 3!

Tickets were sold out on both days of the event which, in its first year in this format, has been a big success!
