South West of England and South Wales Junior County Team Championship

The South West of England and South Wales County Team Championship took place in Lavington School near Devizes on 23-3-13. This event had already been postponed because of bad weather from 19-1-13 and was nearly postponed again ! The bad weather prevented some players from travelling and our Under 11 team was two players short. Next year, in an attempt to avoid the snow, we intend to hold it later in the year.
We have entered teams under various names in this competition off and on over the last 20 years. This year only three counties took part, Devon, Wiltshire and South Wales. The latter scored a resounding success, winning all three age categories for the first time in the history of the competition. Wiltshire were second in the under 9 and under 11 competitions and Devon were second in the under 14 age group. Next year we will be hosting the event and such was our domination of the competition that we might have to think about splitting our team into two different counties.
The under 14 and under 11 teams played three games and the under 9 team played four games. The individual scores of our players were :
U.14   N.Evans 3, B.Thomas 2.5, R.Bennett 3, O.Bennett 3, N.Katsande 2, J.Bell-Thomas 2, D.Kett 2, J.Baker 2.5, D.Siromani 3, M.Richards 3, G.Neave 3, T.James 2.
