Junior Inter-Town Championships 2011

June 18th

The Junior Inter-Town Championship was held in Monmouth on 18th June, there were teams competing from Monmouth, Cardiff & Vale and West Wales in  4 age-group  sections.

Played as a 2-round match over 4 boards between Monmouth and Cardiff & Vale. Monmouth won 5-3 when Callum Spooner managed to checkmate Ahmed Bin Esmael after an epic final game with 3 seconds remaining on his clock and a huge crowd around the board !

Played as a 3-team jamboree over 4 boards.
1st Cardiff & Vale 5.5/8  -  Katie Treharne and Charles Kett scored 2/2
2nd Monmouth 4.5/8

Played as a 3-team jamboree over 12 boards.
1st Monmouth with 26/36  -  Rhys & Owen Bennett & Harold Nock scored 3/3
2nd Cardiff & Vale with 23/36  -  BenThomas, Nudhara Yusuf and David Kett scored 3/3

Played as a 3-round match over 12 boards between Monmouth and Cardiff & Vale. Cardiff & Vale ran out comfortable winners by 27-9.
