The prize-winners in this year’s Dyfed Open Congress (the 45th!), held at the Fishguard Bay Hotel were:

Under 2050: Adam May and Juan Rodriguez (£50 each)

At the South Wales & West-of-England jamboree that was held on Sunday 28 February Glamorgan won the under 9s and Under 14s, while Gwent came second in the Under 11s and Under 9s.

The Dell, Chepstow, has secured places in the EPSCA Under 11 and Under 9s semi-finals. Playing at the zonal round at QEH, Bristol, on Saturday 27 February, the under 11s were emphatic winners, scoring 22 out of a possible 25 game points. The under 9s netted 18 points, and came second in thier section.
Congratulations to Nayana Kalavala for comming joint first in the under 10 section of the Wiltshire and West-of-England congress. Nayana, who attends Howell's and plays for North Cardiff, was also the winner of the Best Girl Prize.

We wish the players an enjoyable and successful tournament.
An announcement has now been made giving the timetable for the selection of the party to represent Wales at the next Olympiad, inviting applications for the two posts of non-playing captain and reminding players of the need to actively associate themselves with Welsh chess if they wish to be considered for selection.
The judging panel (Stuart Hutchings, Dave James and Howard Williams) has awarded the 2015 Geof Tyrrell Best Game Prize To Tim Kett for his victory against John Cox in the 4NCL.
Congratulations to Howell’s of Cardiff for winning both the under 19 and under 11 semi-finals of the ECF girls’ competitions.
The Howell's under 19 team (Shayanna, Neya, Emily) won their section on 14.5/15, while the Howell's A under 11 team (Venetia, Susie, Nayana) did even better, netting a perfect 15/15. Despite being a player short, the Howell's B under 11 team of Nandini and Bindu managed to come joint fifth.
